Our 1 Year Dubaiversary!

One year ago today we landed in Dubai. I am so glad we came here, but I am so glad it’s not then! We had so much to learn. I remember being so…not scared, exactly, but fearful sometimes. That first day I ventured outside without Shawn my heart was beating like crazy. It’s so funny to look back at that time. This is home now, I am very seldom scared at all, less so than I ever was in KC honestly! We have a great life here. Our family of 3 has had more time together than ever would have been possible with both of us working. Obviously there are drawbacks, we miss our friends and family like mad, but in some ways this adventure has made me closer to many people in my life. Thank God for imessaging, facetime, Skype and facebook! And thank you to all of you who go out of your way to comment here and to keep up with us. My mental state wouldn’t be nearly this sane without you. Especially my two girls – you know who you are! Your iMessages keep me going!

Just now as I was writing this, we heard fireworks being shot off over Atlantis. Clare’s asleep so Shawn and I stood at our living room window and watched them falling over the sea. There is no holiday this weekend (as far as we know). We have no idea what they are celebrating, but it’s nice it happened tonight ๐Ÿ™‚

Love to all back home. With the holidays upon us we will miss you even more fiercely. We will be home in April/May and can’t wait to see as many of you as possible. Xoxo

  2. It is a wonderful adventure for all of you and we love hearing all about it. Nice that they had a special celebration for your 1 year anniversary.

      1. Lori, my hairdresser was asking about you guys today – she enjoys your facebook posts etc. We were saying how well you have done being so far away, from home – it is wonderful to know that “home” is still with you.
