33 weeks

So happy we’ve made it this far!

Over the last week or two I’ve progressively felt more and more miserable 😦 I know I have been lucky so far but I’m at the point where I’m just done.  Hopefully the babies aren’t done cooking yet, another 3-5 weeks would be wonderful, if their Momma doesn’t lose her mind by then!

I had an appointment and growth ultrasound on Tuesday.  Both babies are estimated to weight 4.5 lbs, both are head down, and doing all the practice breathing and moving that the dr wanted to see.  He did Doppler studies of their umbilical cords to make sure all is still functioning well and they were great!  Baby B was actually playing with his cord actively!  I say “he” because while scanning him I swore I saw a ball sac….but I’m not sure if that’s even evident on ultrasound?  So now I have no idea what sexes these babies are.  And I don’t even care anymore!  We were at a baby shower yesterday and I was talking to a woman who couldn’t believe we didn’t know what the twins are. I said, “I don’t care what sexes they are, not sure I care what they look like or if they are smart, I just hope they are good sleepers”.  She laughed but I was serious.  Mommy’s already sleep-deprived little ones!!!!!

My blood pressure has risen in the past 2 weeks. I had been holding steady at 120/80s but now they are regularly 130/90s up to 150/100.  The dr hasn’t started me on any medication yet, but he said that is the next step.  I have only trace protein in my urine, but have increased swelling in my face, hands and feet.  So I’m still in the PIH (pregnancy induced hypertension) side of things rather than the pre-eclampsia side.  I hope I stay there!!!!

Physically the swelling is causing carpal tunnel symptoms in my hands, especially my right. I wake up multiple times a night with my hand completely numb.  Ugh!! I had this with Clare but much earlier, in the 2nd trimester.  So I’m glad it held off this time at least!  My pelvis hurts pretty much 24/7, so much worse since the babies flipped head down.  They had both been breech, now I think they are trying to escape. Babies you are coming out of my belly no need to descend down that birth canal!!!! Stay out!

Basically I am a whining, huffing and puffing, swollen, walking nightmare. Everyone loves me!

I have exactly 2 maxi dresses, 1 skirt, 2 pairs of yoga pants, and 2 maternity shirts that fit.  Since I am in no way up to doing daily laundry I end up in Shawn’s boxers and old t-shirts most days.  I like to think this wardrobe only enhances my “glow”.

The family is well, Shawn is loving his job, Clare is loving school.  I think we are as ready as we can be for the babies, just need to install the car seat bases.  We have 2 Rock n plays and the pack n play in our bedroom, a crib in Clare’s room, and 2 bouncers, a swing and a changing table in the living room.  My house looks like a daycare!  Our bags are all packed for the hospital, including so many teeny tiny sleepers :). I’ve hired a cleaning service that is coming once a week (best thing ever!) and have hired a part time nanny to start when my mom leaves in December.  She is from Sri Lanka and so maternal, I kind of wanted her to hug me and tell me it’s all going to be all right, but we just met so I’ll wait a bit.  Her name is Gowri, Clare loves her as well πŸ™‚

  33 week bump plus Clare
With Erin at her baby shower last night. She is due 2 weeks before me….

A trip to the Butterly Gardens last weekend.  I wanted one last fun outing with Clare as an only child.  I mean maybe we will do something else fun before babies?  I’m not sure I’m up for it….

School days! Including falling and having her first injury related bloody nose.
